According to the legend, a young man named Malin Kundang left his hometown in search of a better life. After achieving success, he was transformed into a stone ship as a consequence of his disobedience to his mother. The stone ship is believed to be located on the shores of Air Manis.

For visitors, Bukit Air Manis offers a tranquil place to relax, enjoy nature, and contemplate. With its natural beauty, this hillside has become a popular destination in West Sumatra, attracting both local and international tourists.
